Photon—photon Absorption and the Uniqueness of the Spectra of Active Galactic
نویسنده
چکیده
The effects of the feedback of e+-e pair reinjection in a plasma due to photon photon absorption of its own radiation is examined. Under the assumption of euntinuous electron injection with a power law spectrum E-r and Compton losses only , it is shown that for r < 2 the steady state electron distribution function has a unique form independent of the primary injection spectrum. This electron distribution function can, by synchrotron emission, reproduce the general characteristics of the observed radio to optical active galactic nuclei spectra. Inverse Compton scattering of the synchrotron photons by the same electron distribution can account for their X-ray spectra, and also implies gamma ray emission from these objects. This result is invoked to account for the similarity of these spectra, and it is consistent With observations of the diffuse gamma ray background.

Investigations of parameters affecting the photon energy spectra of an 18 MV Varian 2100C/D linear accelerator
Radiotherapy using linear accelerators is known as an effective modality for cancer treatment. The photons energy of treatment beams significantly affect the dose distribution. Therefore, it is important to accurately evaluate the photon energy spectra. In this study, MCNPX Monte Carlo code (version 2.6.0) was used to simulate an 18 MV photon beam of a Varian 2100C/D linear accelerator. By matc...
متن کاملImpact of Photon Spectra on the Sensitivity of Polymer Gel Dosimetry by X-Ray Computed Tomography
Introduction: The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of X-ray spectra on the sensitivity of a polymer gel dosimeter imaged with a conventional computed tomography (CT) scanner. Material and Methods: The whole process of CT imaging of an irradiated polymer gel was simulated by MCNPX Monte Carlo (MC) code. The imaging of polyacrylamide gel was accomplished by means of a co...

The purpose of this study was to compare photon beam features of two commercial linacs, Varian 21EX and Elekta SL-25 using MCNP4C MC code. Materials and Methods: The 6MV photon beams of Varian 21EX and Elekta Sl-25 linacs were simulated based on manufacturers pro...
متن کاملTWO PHOTON TRANSITIONS IN THE OPTOGALVANIC SPECTRUM OF NEON
Seventeen two-photon transitions for neon have been observed in the 580- 635 nm spectral region for use in the spectroscopic study of its higher excited levels, which are not accessible by one-photon absorption. To compare the two and one-photon absorption signals originating from the same lower level, an effort was made to record single-photon optogalvanic spectrum in the available wavele...
